March 2018 – Monthly Round Up

March 2018 – Monthly Round Up

How is it April already? Seriously, this year is flying by. With big works going on at ESLT HQ during April, it is going to be a month of blogging as much as possible, when possible, especially towards the end of the month. March, on the other hand, was a blogging frenzy and we published a number of posts – why not check them out if you haven’t already. I think it’s got a lot to do with the rubbish weather we have been experiencing including rain and even snow. Fingers crossed April is going to be a great month weather wise and we can finally spend a lot more time outside because we were not able to do that much during March. However, we did explore a little bit and here’s what we did get up to. Travels

Gouda, The Netherlands

Gouda Canals, The Netherlands

Windmill in Gouda, The Netherlands

Our only trip of the month was a weekend break to Gouda in The Netherlands. ‘Welcome to Gouda’ put together a jam-packed itinerary for us. We got to learn about the history and culture of the city together with trying some of the city’s most famous foodie exports. Even though it was freezing, the skies were blue which meant we could wander around the city and along the canals to our heart’s content. Full post about our weekend break coming very soon.

Food

Tapasya, Hull

Duck Main Course - Tapasya Hull

We were invited to Tapasya, a fine dining Indian restaurant in our hometown of Hull in East Yorkshire to try out the new Spring/Summer a la carte menu. It was amazing and we found so many dishes that you wouldn’t find on a traditional Indian menu. It was three courses of awesomeness and is certainly somewhere we need to return to and soon.

Award Winners (eeek!)

In the middle of the month, we whizzed down to London to the 2018 Holland Press Awards, where we were nominated in the Best Online Article category. We really did not know what to expect but the last thing that we expected was to actually win, but we did! We were absolutely speechless, yet completely over the moon. We, of course, celebrated with a lot of the fizzy stuff and the award is now sitting pretty in our new home office.

Upcoming Travels

Staycation

During April we will not be leaving the country, however, we will be hopping around Yorkshire including:

Hull, England

We will be heading to the recently opened HIDEOUT Apartment Hotel in our hometown of Hull towards the end of April to spend the evening. We cannot wait for our staycation and have already picked out a few board games to take with us.

Harrogate, England

We will then be heading up to Harrogate in North Yorkshire for a couple of nights in the Artists’ Corner, a brand new cottage which has just opened close to the two centre. We are keeping our fingers crossed for good weather to ensure we can explore the local area without getting drenched.

We may also have a third local trip to look forward to, however, final details are still being ironed out.

Travel Planning

Every single hour of my 2018/2019 leave entitlement is accounted for therefore this month I have nowhere new to report! We have however been putting together itineraries for our upcoming travels that we have planned for the summer. The next trip we have to plan is our New Year trip, last year we spent New Year in Switzerland, this year we have no idea where we want to head just yet.
