Monthly Round Ups

July 2016 – Monthly Round Up

I can’t believe it’s August already. Where has July gone? In England the sun has certainly had his hat on with record temperatures, we actually experienced a heatwave! Being British we’re not used to it and even though it only lasted a week it was a welcome relief from the usual rain we experience during the summer months. Couple the amazing weather with light nights, I for one have had been enjoying exploring my local area and al fresco dining. Let’s hope it continues into August.

UK City of Culture 2017

My hometown of Hull is the UK City of Culture 2017 therefore a number of events are to be held across the city next year. However at the beginning of July Hull UK City of Culture 2017 and Yorkshire Festival presented Place des Anges as the finale of the Yorkshire Festival 2016, in association with the Amy Johnson Festival. As night fell across the city of Hull, a number of angels began to appear, high up on the rooftops.  They took to the air, magically suspended above the waiting crowd below. The angels started to glide down into the audience, releasing white feathers which floated across the sky.  Each angel had their own unique character and style and as their aerial antics become more boisterous, the clouds of feathers thickened, creating a sense of awe and wonder.

Ladival Sports Ambassadors

So this month Mr ESLT and I became Sports Ambassadors for the sun protection brand Ladival and their summer #LoveSPF campaign. This year Ladival are proud to be the official sun protectors of British Tennis, and are aiming to support and promote safer play in the sun. Ladival launched a campaign last month to encourage people to play safely in the sun this summer.

Travels

I’ll be honest we haven’t been far this month (but loads of great adventures coming up – I promise). However, this month I did publish our posts following our trip at the end of June to Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. We loved our time in this gem of a city and loved our stay at the Tulip House Boutique Hotel.

Food

This month we headed back to The Grainary (an amazing farm on the outskirts of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England) for Sunday Lunch. We enjoyed a delicious three course meal. It also gave us the opportunity to see the animals again. I’m sure it won’t be too long before we’re back again.

Live Music

I can’t express how shocked I was when Mr ESLT bought us tickets to see James Bay at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Let’s just say James’ music certainly isn’t his thing but bless him for being an awesome human and doing something so lovely for me. I had a great night!

On The Road Again…

The last weekend of the month saw us hit the road and head to the Lake District. Having only ever visited once before it was lovely to get back up there and see what it had to offer. We stayed at the Beech Hill Hotel & Spa which has fantastic views over Lake Windermere. I’ll be writing about our visit in the next week or so, so keep an eye out..

California (& Nevada) Dreaming

We’ve decided to dust off our backpacks and head to California for the best part of a month next June. Our flight lands in San Fransisco on 1st June and out of Las Vegas on 24th June. Having never visited California together before it will be great to tick a few amazing places off our list. We have no set itinerary yet but we hope to incorporate driving the Pacific Highway into our plans, together with an amazing restaurant for our 6th wedding anniversary on the 17th June. Having been to Las Vegas before we decided that if we were making the journey to the West Coast, it wouldn’t be the same without hitting Vegas again. We plan to spend at least 5 days here to enjoy the desert sun and party the night away!
