Taking A Year Out To Travel? Add These Experiences To Your List

We spend so much time in education, then we go on to work and spend even longer doing that, it can sometimes feel like we’re never going to get a break. But, if you work hard, you should be able to play hard too. If you went all the way through school and then on to university, you might be just about ready for a break before you start off on your chosen career path. Or, you might even be struggling at work and fancy a career change, but you want to take a year out first and figure out a way to get paid to travel. If you’re currently saving up and making your plans, you might want to consider one of these experiences and add them to your list.

Hit Each Continent

You could consider doing a standard continent tour, like traveling through Europe or heading to Asia, but if this is your one chance to see the world, why not change that to all of the continents. There’s no reason why you couldn’t plan a trip that touches down in the all. Yes, you might be required to save up a little more for the airfare, or work while you’re away, but won’t it be worth it when you’re left with incredible memories and once in a lifetime experiences?

Make A Difference

You might not have known it before, but you can team up your travel plans with doing some good. You can help to build houses or volunteer, but if you’re a big fan of animals, you might want to work on a rhino conservation project. You can choose from a range of different programs and find yourself in Africa in the middle of an amazing experience.

Tour Foodie Style

If you’re a big fan of food, then why not turn your travel plans into one big foodie tour? It might seem a little overwhelming, but just think about the culinary experiences that you can have? Eat authentic noodles in China, couscous in Morocco, pasta in Italy, churros in Mexico and from every food cart that California has to offer! But remember to stay active, all of those incredible cuisines could just burst your buttons.

Dive Deep

Water babies will probably already have a little time in the sea in mind, but there’s no reason why you couldn’t make that a lot of time in the sea. The world has some incredible places to see underwater. If you’ve never dived before, then think about taking some lessons. Or, you might even think about making them the first stage of your trip. The best diving destinations in the world are waiting!

See The Seven Wonders

And, if you really want to create the trip of a lifetime, why not make it all about The Seven Wonders of the World? New and modern additions seem to be popping up all over, but stick to the ancient seven, and you’re sure to be astounded. With the Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, Colossus of Rhodes, and the Lighthouse of Alexandria on your list, you’re sure to make a lot of memories.

I totally agree with your post on taking a gap year – I have absolutely zero regrets with taking one, it was the best decision I made!
