September 2016 – Monthly Round Up

October is here and I’ll be honest I don’t know if I’m a fan (sorry!). So many people are tweeting about their love of Autumn but I’ll be honest I really don’t think I’m ready for the summer to be over. Although after a whirlwind month of cars, airports (6 flights – 6 delays), planes, sunshine, great food and lots of booze maybe it’s time to take my foot of the accelerator for a bit and have a more relaxed October. So here’s whats been happening in Eat Sleep Love Travel’s world in the last few weeks……

We started the month by heading to the capital of Spain – Madrid for Mr ESLT’s belated birthday celebration. It’s somewhere that he has always wanted to go and it certainly didn’t disappoint. We were hosted at the fantastic Sidorme Hotel Madrid Fuencarral 52, which was a great base for our stay. We enjoyed a lot of sightseeing, great food and of course a visit to the Santiago Bernabéu, home to one of the best football teams in the world – Real Madrid. Mr ESLT had a great birthday, I wonder where we’ll head next year 🙂

Next up was a long weekend in Split with my best friend Samm from The Inspiration Highway who won the holiday at Icelolly.com’s #blogatthebeach event which was held earlier this year. We enjoyed four days of exploring the beautiful city and everything it has to offer. We stayed at the modern and centrally located Diokles Studio Apartman and enjoyed a great city walking tour with the fantastic Josko, wine tasting, relaxing on the beach and of course indulging in loads of amazing food. Proving girls just wanna have fun!

We’ve just ended the month with a visit to the beautiful town of Lindos on the island of Rhodes, Greece for our friend’s wedding. The scenery made the perfect backdrop for such a romantic occasion and in reality the photographs really do not do it justice! We spent the days wandering the narrow streets, hiking up to the acropolis and relaxing on the beach and the evenings eating, drinking and laughing with friends. Having not really explored much of Greece we have made the decision to return in the not too distant future.

Mr ESLT and I have been following the Lean in 15 diet to the best of our ability over the past month but when I was invited to try the BRGR.CO burger afternoon tea on a recent visit to London I jumped at the chance. And I’m glad that I did, it was the perfect afternoon treat of mini burgers, fries and sweet treats – I highly recommend it. I can’t wait to return and indulge in a big fat burger next time! YUM!!!

With my dislike for Autumn, I’m trying to stretch out summer as long as I can. Therefore I can’t wait to head to Malta on the 11th. We are being hosted by Hotel Valentina in St Julian’s. I have actually been to Malta once before, however, it was over 20 years ago so I am excited to rediscover the island. With boat trips, good food and relaxation on the cards we are hoping for the great weather to accompany it. Have you been, we’d love to hear your tips and recommendations on what to do and see!
