England: 3 Perfect Places To Explore By Campervan

Exploring By Campervan

Having taken campervan holidays all over the world, we cannot recommend them enough. There are so many benefits, there are just too many to list. However, the freedom of the open road, being able to design your own itinerary and saving on accommodation costs certainly top our list. As we’ve mentioned before Mr ESLT loves camping whereas Vicky prefers glamping. However, our love of being able to explore by campervan is something we can both agree on. Therefore, I regularly check out the deals and offers the campervan dealers near me have on. This is because owning a classic 1970’s VW Kombi is the dream for us after hiring one in Australia a few years back. This is especially important to us now we have the children, as taking far-flung adventures is quite tricky for the time being.

There are a lot of places all over the globe that lends itself to campervan holidays because of their natural beauty. These include the Great Ocean Road and the Sunshine Coast in Australia, anywhere in New Zealand, the Pacific Coast Highway and Route 66 in the US, the Iceland Ringroad (just remember to pack your thermals) and not forgetting the North Coast 500 in Scotland. Plus many, many others.

However, one of the most ideal countries prime for exploring by campervan is definitely England. Yes we are English and yes maybe a little bit of bias is creeping in, but it’s true England is beautiful and full of wonderful things to do and see. Therefore we have put together a list of 3 areas perfect for exploring by campervan. We hope this helps when planning your next campervan adventure.

Yorkshire

Yorkshire Dales

Being from and living in Yorkshire, we are massive advocates of the county. It has everything you need for a great break – cities, coast and countryside. Therefore why just have one base? The benefit of travelling by campervan is that you can have a different base every night which in turn means you get to see more. Don’t miss out on the natural beauty on offer in the Yorkshire Dales, hit the coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough or Bridlington for amazing fish and chips by the seaside and don’t forget to swing by Leeds, York and our hometown, Hull for great shopping, nice restaurants and cool bars.

The Lake District

Grasmere, The Lake District, England

The Lake District is made up of a number of picturesque villages and as the name suggests,  a lot of lakes. This area located in the north west of England is a great option when deciding where to explore by campervan. The area is bursting with great activities, especially if you love the great outdoors and being at one with nature. These include hiking, kayaking and even diving. Also, there are plenty of places to eat – from a quick bite to fine dining. However, another benefit of travelling by campervan is that, if yours has a kitchen which many do, you can cook up a storm wherever you are. This could save you money if you’re travelling on a budget.

Devon

Devon, England

The south coast of England is stunning and on a nice weather day, you could mistake it for the southern Spanish coast. With beautiful seaside cities and towns including Torbay, Exmouth and Paignton amongst many others and the stunning Jurassic Coast, Devon is a great choice. After a great day exploring the local area and experiencing all of the traditional seaside attractions on offer, if you’re anything like us, you’ll want to chill out with a glass (or 3) of wine. Therefore why not opt for a campsite with great views over the English Channel, of which there are plenty, to park up your campervan and enjoy relaxing al fresco with your favourite tipple.
