Autumn is coming! And we don’t know if we are happy about that, to be honest. We love the summer, especially the sunshine, so the fact that we will soon be waving goodbye to light nights and beer garden weather is quite depressing. But you never know we have had pleasant September in England before, maybe we are in for a nice surprise this year too (fingers crossed). Anyway back to August, seriously, where did it go? We hope you had a good one, we’d love to hear about your adventures, please feel free to leave us a comment letting us know what you did and where you went. We seemed to have blinked and missed it. Here’s what we got up to……
The Plough, Lupton, England
We love the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District and visit them both quite often. So when we were invited to stay at The Plough in Lupton. almost equidistant to both, we jumped at the chance. It is a great quirky place. We had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon drinks, a delicious meal in their restaurant and an evening’s stay in one of their luxurious, yet homely suites. It was the perfect evening away and if you are ever in the area and looking for accommodation, we recommend you check The Plough out.
We headed straight from The Plough to Manchester airport and jumped on a flight to Nuremberg, Germany to celebrate Mr ESLT’s birthday. We knew it was going to be a flying visit, therefore, we tried to fit as much in as possible and hit the ground running. Armed with our Nuremberg cards we set about finding the best places to see, eat and drink in the city.
The sun shone brightly for us throughout our stay and we enjoyed every second. We were really impressed with Nuremberg and super glad we had the opportunity to visit. Thank you to Tourismus Nürnberg for hosting us. We have already published a post about the culinary scene in Nuremberg and will be publishing a couple more posts in the coming week or so.
The Hart’s Head, Giggleswick, nr. Settle, England
Following a long trek, we were in need of a big hearty lunch and The Hart’s Head in the charming village of Giggleswick certainly delivered. A great pit stop for a delicious meal with great service and definitely not your average pub grub!
In two weeks we head to Luxembourg, our 71st country. We are intrigued to see what the little country has to offer. We have been reading other bloggers posts for inspiration, so if you have visited, please feel free to leave the link to your post in the comments section below or any tips or recommendations you may have. We would love to hear what you did. We have a rough idea of what we are going to do whilst there but still need to firm plans up.
2018 travel plans are shaping up nicely already as this month we have secured two trips to two new counties.
Gdansk, Poland – January 2018
We’ve wanted to visit Poland for years, so when Ryanair tempt you with £9.99 flights, it’s too difficult to say no. Therefore our first trip of the year will be to Gdansk, which we have heard nothing but good things about. It’s going to be cold though, brrr.
Sofia, Bulgaria – May 2018
The next new country will be Bulgaria when we visit its capital, Sofia in May for Vicky’s birthday. Bulgaria itself sometimes gets a bad rep but we’re hoping Sofia proves us wrong. It looks right up our alley and we are hoping for nice weather.
New Media Kit
As travel bloggers, it’s important to have an up to date and shiny media kit in case brands or PRs want to work with you and want to see it. I’ll be honest ours was not that new or shiny as we had let it slide for so long. Therefore, Sam from yokomeshi.co.uk designed a brand new one for us we were so happy (thanks again SAM!). Check it out here and get in touch with Sam if you are in need of one, we can certainly vouch for her aceness!
New Blogger Achievement
We received a lovely email early in August saying we had been nominated as Best Lifestyle Blog and Best Outdoor/Adventure Blog in The Activity People’s 2017 Awards. After the voting period, unfortunately, we didn’t rank in the Outdoor/Adventure category, however, we did come 3rd in the Lifestyle category, yeah!!!
