Samsonite Lite DLX Spinner Suitcase

Samsonite LITE DLX Spinner

We take a LOT of trips with hand luggage only, therefore it is imperative that we have fit for purpose cases. Most, if not all, budget airlines have very strict regulations on what dimensions and weight your hand luggage must be. With this in mind, I always choose a bag/case that meets the maximum dimensions and is the lightest I can find so that I can pack as much as possible (I’m still working on the travelling light thing!). On a recent trip to Lindos, Greece, Mr ESLT test drove the Samonsite LITE DLX Spinner. Here’s what he thought about it….Samsonite LITE DLX Spinner

Look and design

The dimensions of this cabin bag are perfect for most, if not all, budget airlines, and great for a short break away. The bag is primarily made from a bespoke, soft touch fabric that is treated with Teflon® Fabric Protector which provides water and dirt repellency. We received it in Dark Olive, however Midnight Blue and Ash Grey are also available, with beautiful leather touch point detailing including top handle, Samsonite label and luggage tag. It certainly feels like a high quality bag, made with great attention to detail and using great materials. It’s an extremely sturdy bag yet is very light-weight, meaning you can pack more, especially if there is a weight restriction. The main compartment has plenty of room for the bulk of your luggage, with ribbons to store clothes wrinkle-free. It also has a number of nifty pockets for bits and bobs, including a top compartment with two large zipped pockets – a tablet pocket, and the all important large front zipped pocket which we always use for our passports and boarding passes. This is a very elegant bag and more than one person has commented on how nice it is!Samsonite LITE DLX Spinner

What it can hold

Our trip was a 3 night summer European getaway (so the clothes packed where all pretty lightweight), but together with swimwear, beach towel, travel toiletries, 3 pairs of shoes, chargers for cameras, phones, etc, travel adapters, blue tooth speaker, electric toothbrush and other knick knacks, everything fitted in with ease and it was still not at capacity. Obviously it depends on how light you can pack, but Mr ESLT reckons he could have packed enough for a 5 night break in the bag if needed (weight dependent of course), which is great if you don’t want to pay for the privilege of checking in a hold bag.Samsonite LITE DLX Spinner

Ease of use

The fact that it is a spinner is great, as it ‘walks’ very nicely next to you. It does not pull to one side or feel unsteady on its four wheels at any time. Mr ESLT’s favourite feature of the bag is the comfortable double tube push button wheel handle which, when in the down position, can be zipped away and concealed, meaning he can use it as a wheeled spinner case or as a bag which he can actually carry using the side handle.Samsonite LITE DLX Spinner

Summary

This is an extremely elegant bag which certainly deserves the attention it gets. Mr ESLT fell in love with it, and really enjoyed using it on our trip – I was jealous, as I loved it too! As part of a large range of cases, I personally would be tempted to purchase more of the range, knowing how great this one is. It is perfect for leisure travellers like us, as well as for business travellers. It is a great alternative to a traditional black carry-on which the suited and booted are usually seen wheeling through airports. We cannot rate this bag highly enough, I genuinely cannot think of one fault with it.
