For decades Greece has been a strong favourite when it comes to family holidays because of its beautiful scenery, interesting history, luxury accommodation, mouthwatering food (gyros, anyone?) and turquoise waters perfect for watersports. Santorini
Many consider Santorini to be a romantic island perfect for honeymooners and couples in love. This is true. However, Santorini is also a perfect island destination for families wishing to visit Greece. Located in the Cycladic island group in the southern Aegean Sea, Santorini is a beautiful island. It is famous for its white buildings with blue dome roofs. There are several family-friendly beaches on Santorini. These include Monolithos Beach, Perissa Beach and Kamari Beach, among others, where the waters are shallow and there is a laid-back vibe. Perfect for a relaxing family holiday.
As it is a luxury island, you may want to consider staying in a luxury private villa in Santorini. Private villas are a great choice when travelling with family as they offer privacy. Many also have a private pool, allowing you to have fun and make as much noise as you like (within reason, of course) without worrying about disturbing other holidaymakers.
Paros
Paros is known for its beaches and traditional villages, which of course are great reasons to visit this island. However, if your family loves watersports, then Paros is the island to head to. Rhodes is a fabulous island, (and one we have visited many times). When you think of Rhodes you may think of the party town of Faliraki, which is popular because of its lively nightlife. However, there is so much more to this island and a great destination to head for a family holiday. If you’re looking for a little bit of luxury then Ixia located close to Rhodes Town is a great option. This hotel beach resort is one of the most cosmopolitan on the island with luxury accommodation, private beaches, and several watersports centres offering various watersports – windsurfing, jet skiing etc.
If your family has an interest in history, Lindos is a great town to visit. You should visit The Acropolis of Lindos. It is the ruins of an ancient citadel that sits high atop a cliff above the town. It is the most impressive archaeological site on Rhodes. Lindos is also home to wonderful beaches and restaurants too. Therefore, making it a great destination.
