Imagine being able to waltz into a five-star hotel, hand your baggage over to a porter and then relax for a couple of weeks in impeccable surroundings while protecting your bank balance at the same time.
It sounds impossible because we’re all used to spending so much on luxury hotel accommodation. But it turns out that prices vary dramatically throughout the world. In some places, five-star service doesn’t cost much more than one-star in others.
In that sense, it’s a little bit like housing. You can pay a million pounds for a terraced house in the middle of a big city, or get a mansion if you’re willing to live in the country.
It’s not just us saying this either. Research by Hoo, presented in the fascinating infographic below shows you just how much value for money you can get if you travel to the right locations. Places like Vietnam and Poland are downright bargains for five-star hotels, with average prices of around £148 per night – not bad at all.
Other destinations, such as Chile, India, China, Brazil, and Australia also offer surprisingly low prices.
Of course, places like the UK, France, and Germany are expensive – just typical! So anyone planning a staycation on a budget may need to rethink their plans.
If you’d like to learn more about how much hotel prices vary between counties, take a look at the graphic below. Five-star accommodation doesn’t have to be expensive, especially if you know where to look. Treat yourself to a bargain holiday this year.
