I’ll be honest I normally travel with a rucksack as my hand luggage on flights or a weekend away. Even though my rucksack is practical, it is not really the most stylish. Also, as a 35-year-old woman maybe a rucksack is not the ideal luggage to be using? Therefore, I would like to introduce you to my new travel companion – Jennie.
Jennie (RRP £55) is one of the travel bags that Mia Tui offer and she is fabulous! Jennie has accompanied me on weekends to Turin and Scotland and an overnight stay in Manchester, so far. The fact that she looks like a regular oversized handbag was the big allure for me, however, she is sneaky as inside she has numerous pockets ideal for packing and stashing my travel essentials including two Insulated water bottle holders (bottles not included), key clip, phone pocket and pen holder. There is also the oh so important iPad/Kindle/MacBook pocket – vital when you’re a travel blogger.
The hardest decision when it came to choosing my Jennie was sticking with my choice of colour, I must have changed my mind at least a dozen times. Most, if not all bags in my collection are black or tan. Therefore, when I was faced with colour options including cornflower, scarlet, bronze and ice blue, my brain could not deal with the sensory overload. Eventually, I opted for the rose gold Jennie bag, firstly because I am a magpie when it comes to anything pink or even remotely pinkish and secondly I have a rose gold iPhone and MacBook and like things to match.
I used Jennie as a supplementary bag on my weekend trips, it was perfect for carrying travel documentation and electronics like my camera, lenses and charger. Also, as it has a pocket on the back that slips over the handles of my suitcase, meaning it sits comfortably on top, it makes it super easy to manoeuvre my wheeled suitcase and Jennie easily. However, when I used it as an overnight bag, I managed to get everything I needed in it.
It has two handles, which are long enough to wear it over my shoulder which is something I have struggled to find previously. It also comes with a detachable shoulder strap which I actually haven’t used yet. Other little bonuses that Jennie brings to the table are a little clear bag which I have I have used for my toiletries when travelling in this country, however, didn’t try when travelling on a plane as I didn’t want to be that person at security holding everyone up if it hadn’t been allowed. And also a little matching clutch bag which I have used a number of times now as a little going out handbag.
The technical stuff:
Size W40cm, D15cm, H30cm (width is taken from the base of the bag)
Weight – Bag 917g – Strap, Clutch & PVC 267g
Material – Ultra Soft Faux Leather
Jennie has quickly become a firm favourite travel bag of mine and will continue to travel with me this summer. With trips to Norway, The Netherlands, Montenegro, Croatia, Albania, Germany and Austria all planned – I’ll be hitting Europe in style.
- Jennie was gifted to me by Mia Tui in exchange for a review – check out their website for lots of lovely bags for every occasion.
