If you are a regular reader of our blog, you will know how much we love glamping. Being able to get back to nature but still having essential home comforts around us ticks a lot of boxes. We have glamped in several places all over the UK and even in Yosemite National Park, California. With COVID-19 wreaking havoc on the travel industry and the future of international travel uncertain, now is the time to start looking at adventures closer to home. Therefore, here are 5 reasons you should consider glamping and why you would love the experience.
But First…
What is Glamping?
Glamping is still a relatively new term. It was only added to the Oxford dictionary in 2016. Therefore, you would be forgiven for not really knowing what it is. So what is it? In a nutshell, glamping means glamourous camping and is now an extremely popular holiday option.
So basically, it is luxury camping for people who just the idea of tent life has put them off traditional camping forever. For some people, just the thought of camping sends a shiver down their spine. Maybe you are one of them?
Many glamping sites offer a range of glamping accommodation options. You just need to pick the one that meets your needs and suits your budget best. These include:
- Bell Tent/ yurt
- Geo-dome
- Glamping Cabins
- Glamping Pods
- Gypsy Caravan
- Safari Tent
- Shepherd’s Huts
It Allows You To Get Back To Nature
If you are a lover of the great outdoors and enjoy getting back to nature then you really should consider glamping. Glamping sites are usually secluded/remote fields with the yurts, cabins, huts etc spread out ensuring you are not on top of your neighbour(s). This means you can cook, dine and enjoy a drink or two al fresco enjoying your surroundings without disturbance. Also, perfect if travelling with children as they can run around to their heart’s content.
It Is A Hasslefree Getaway
Camping can be super expensive as you need to buy lots of gear to ensure you have a comfortable break. It also means you have to find somewhere to store it all. This is obviously no problem if you have a garage or shed big enough, but not everyone has that luxury. Therefore glamping is a great option as only basic gear is needed (compared to traditional camping) and you do not have to spend time putting up your own accommodation, making your trip hasslefree.
You Don’t have To Compromise on Comfort
Depending on the accommodation and site you choose will depend on the level of comfort offered. The comfort levels we have experienced over the years have varied drastically. Some sites offer the basics where you have to bring your own towels and bedding whereas others have ensuite bathrooms, kitchens and even TVs with double beds and Egyptian cotton sheets. You do not have to compromise on comfort, however, you may have to pay a bit more for it.
It Is An Affordable Option
If you have the cash for a holiday then glamping is a great, affordable option. There is no initial outlay for equipment as with camping. Obviously, once you have the equipment, each trip is relatively cheap. However, not everyone has the cash to invest in camping gear especially if they do not plan to use it regularly. Glamping is always almost cheaper than travelling abroad, especially if you have a large family, Therefore, perfect for school holidays when the prices of foreign jaunts are astronomical.
Glamping Is Fun For Everyone
Whether you go glamping on your own, with your partner or with your family, glamping is fun for everyone. Glamping is made up of so many elements. Therefore there is something for everyone. These include sleeping under the stairs, cooking your own food on a BBQ, escaping the hustle and bustle of daily life (sometimes without a mobile phone signal), exploring the local area, letting the kids run wild etc. Whatever it may be you really should consider glamping!
