This week’s guest post comes from Cora, blogger behind The Mini Millionaire. She explains ‘I’m the person behind a personal finance, lifestyle and travel blog. I launched the blog in late 2014 as a way of documenting my journey to becoming a millionaire. I wrote highly successful popular posts such as; Why I Only Buy Designer Clothes & How To Womble… However, mid-2016 things changed… I realised that in all my frugal living, I’d stopped, well… LIVING. I re-launched myself, and my blog. I started not only talking about ways to save money, I also started covering how to earn more, and have more FUN with the money you’re making / saving. Fast track to 2017 and I’ve just sold my house, my car and 90% of my possessions to travel the world with my girlfriend.’
1. What is your name and where do you come from?
Hello! I’m Cora Harrison, I come from Wakefield, England (Wakefied: A place nobody has really heard of but if I say Manchester (it’s about an hour away) then people know straight away)
2. What sort of traveller are you? Full time / part time / business / backpacker etc?
I’m a full time traveller (and boy does it sound great to say that!) It’s only recently occurred though, for a long time I was just part time and business however after selling my house, my business, my car, and 90% of my possessions I’m super excited to be exploring the world with my better half!
3. How do you fund your travelling?
Blog + Youtube: My partner and I both run a blog each. We make a little money through the likes of affiliate marketing, sponsored posts etc. We also make daily Youtube videos (and did so before we started travelling) so we also make a little from Adsense too.
Our Amazing Patreons: The people who watched our videos ended up liked us so much they wanted to support our work – which is AWESOME!
Investments: After selling our house and businesses we had some spare cash so we’ve put it in investments so we can use the money it yields to travel.
4. Where is the best place you have ever been and why?
This is probably going to knock me down in the traveller books, but I don’t care… I absolutely LOVE Orlando, Florida. I’ve been four times in the past three years and we’re already planning on visiting again in October. I’m someone who gets bored easily and in Orlando there’s always something to do.
5. Where is the worst place you have ever been and why?
Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. Don’t confuse this with the rest of Bulgaria, which is absolutely amazing. Sunny Beach caters heavily for the 18 – 35 nightclub market. It costs around three times as much as the rest of Bulgaria, the people here are unfriendly and the entire experience is highly inauthentic to the rest of this amazing country.
6. Do you have a Bucket List? If so where are the 3 top places on it?
I don’t, when we packed up to travel everyone always asked where we were going to go and our answer was always – EVERYWHERE. We want to see, everything and anything this world has to offer us. However, if you gave me three free flights to any destination in the world today I’d probably choose;
– Sydney, Australia
– California, USA
– Cape Town, South Africa
7. What 3 things (apart from the essentials – food/water etc) do you always travel with?
We travel with a 20l backpack each – so you could say we only pack the essentials. However, because of the content we create, we carry around a DJI Mavic Drone, 2 Canon G7X Mark II Camera’s, spare batteries, Go Pros power banks, Mac book pros… Basically one entire backpack looks like an entire electronics store which is crazy!
8. What makes you happy and why?
Sharing my travelling experiences with my girlfriend Helen. She’s my best friend, my rock and it’s so nice to have someone there to experience this amazing world with me.
9. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I started blogging three / almost four years ago now. I decided to document the process of buying my first house aged 21 (oh how times have changed)
10. What makes your blog unique and why should people read it?
My videos are unique as the two of us are currently travelling Europe on £30 a day – for the two of us. My blog is unique because it doesn’t just cover travel but how to make money and save money to fund not only travelling but absolutely anything you desire.
From ESLT – thank you Cora for taking the time to answer our questions. Safe Travels 🙂
