It’s no secret that travel has a lot to teach us. Why else do we go away but to open our eyes to new things? Even so, the amount we learn while we’re away depends on us. Knowledge won’t strike you because you’re in a new place. You have to go out there and get it. There are many options for learning while you’re away, but we’ve collected a list of a few to get you started!
Of course, the list has to start with the opportunity to learn a new language. You want to be able to interact with the locals in your chosen destination, right? Then don’t hesitate to learn the language. Don’t panic and think you need to be fluent before you go. Learning enough keywords to hold a conversation is all you need. Once you know the basics, it’ll amaze you how quickly you pick up more! Learning the language will lead to learning even more about the country you’re visiting. It’s well worth putting the effort in!
If you’re serious about learning, you could even embark on a qualification while you’re away. Why not head to the ski slopes of Canada and undertake one of many Canadian ski instructor courses? Learning a useful skill in such a beautiful location will be well worth your time. Get to grips with the best ski slopes in Canada and get practicing the moment you arrive! Choose from Whistler Blackcomb, Mount Tremblant, and much more. Or, if skiing isn’t your idea of fun, see what other qualifications you could gain while away. You could gain environmental qualifications by volunteering. Or, why not take your language studies further and gain a qualification in that?
Travel exposes you to all types of new skills. You could go camping during your stay and learn how to put up a tent or start a fire. Or, you could get to grips with volunteer opportunities. From teaching to helping with the building of schools, you’re sure to learn something new! Volunteering is also the best way to make a difference wherever you are. Keep your eyes open to opportunities at all times. Sign up for any courses. There may be cookery courses that could teach you a whole new culinary style!
Every country has its history. Make the most of your time away by learning about events of historical import. Take time to visit any notable ruins and take the chance to learn a little about them. If it’s history you’re after, you can’t get much better than Rome. With ruins such as The Colosseum and The Pantheon, this is a historical minefield! As well as visiting ruins themselves, make sure to book visits to museums. Seeing the sights is one thing, but a museum can teach you a little more about their place in history. Traveling this way is sure to be a fascinating experience. You’ll be a fountain of knowledge by the time you get home!
