Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland, and millions of people flock there every year. It’s become a hugely popular place to visit as it’s great at all times of the year! It’s also appears to be a perfect place to visit with your partner as there are plenty of romantic activities for you both to enjoy. As we discussed before, we plan to hire a car so that we can conveniently go further afield. However, after a lot of research it appears there are plenty of things to do around the capital.

Here are four things you must do with your partner when you are visiting Reykjavik.

Going for a swim together at the Blue Lagoon

One of the things Iceland is most famous for is the Blue Lagoon. It’s an amazing experience where you can swim together in the warm water which is great for cleansing your skin. It takes only around half hour to get the Blue Lagoon and is an excellent way to have a relaxing day out. You could also have a couples massage while you are visiting the geothermal spa. There are plenty of relaxation areas you can chill in if you want to escape the water for a few moments. You will regret not visiting the Blue Lagoon while staying in Reykjavik.

Enjoying the nightlife together

Another thing you should do while visiting Reykjavik with your partner is to experience the nightlife. It’s known for its vibrant nightlife with lots of great local music which draws crowds of people. The clubs are also open till the early hours, and it’s an excellent experience you won’t forget. You can also go to enjoy some great food while you are staying in the capital. Be warned though it is pricey so take a lot of euros when you do go. You can expect delights such as lamb and seafood at the local restaurants

Going whale watching together

You should also not leave Reykjavik without going whale watching with your partner. It’s an amazing experience that you will never forget. You should organize a boat trip to take you out, and remember to take your camera to get some wonderful shots of the marine life. You can often arrange to go whale watching through your travel company. You will find many companies online who will be able to sort your reykjavik holidays and tours, so you don’t miss out on anything while you are there.

Watch the Northern Lights at night

Another thing you should ensure you do with your partner when you are visiting Reykjavik is to watch the Northern Lights. It’s a memorable experience that you will never forget. It’s best to go in the winter months where you will be more likely to see the Northern Lights. Arrange to go on a tour as they will have a good idea on where the best place to see them is. Remember to wrap up warm as it will be cold when you are waiting to see the lights at night!

You should also go horse riding together while you are in Reykjavik. It’s a romantic thing to do together, and it’s a good way of getting better views of the area.

  2. Love this list! We managed to do three out of four, but unfortunately we weren’t there during whale watching season. It gives us even more reason to return though, we loved Reykjavik!

    • It’s such an ace place isn’t it? From the second we landed we could instantly see why people rave about Iceland! YES a great reason to return is a whale watching trip. A little tip from me would be don’t eat before you do it if it’s a rough day at sea 🤢 hope you get to return one day soon, we’re already planning our return trip.

      • Ahhh I will definitely make sure I don’t eat beforehand! Hopefully going whale watching in Norway this winter so I will remember that one haha. Brilliant, it all feels like a different world there doesn’t it! I am about half way through a series of posts on my time there if you want some inspiration! https://www.everythingemilie.com
