1.What is your name and where do you come from?

Melissa Naomi, From Sydney Australia (or as seen on social media sites such as – Instagram and Twitter as the “Aussie Blonde Abroad”)

2. What sort of traveller are you? Full time / part time / business/ backpacker etc?

Currently Full Time

3. How do you fund your travelling?

Sponsorships and partnerships with local tourism and travel companies, along with freelance brand influencing.

4. Where is the best place you have ever been and why?

Antarctica – Because it is out of this world, and beyond anything I have ever experienced, seen, visited and done. It’s a place I have always dreamed of exploring and pushing myself into travelling to the end of the world was defiantly a memory I am still processing. From wildlife walking right between your feet, such as baby penguins, to giant elephant seals and beautiful albatross, to the gigantic ice bergs, snow, mountains and open ocean it is just a place so untouched and just so full of life!

5. Where is the worst place you have ever been and why?

Tanzania in eastern Africa – I guess you could call it a series of unfortunate events. Within the first week of my trip I managed to get arrested, almost attacked by lions hunting buffalo and locked in a public bathroom having to break a window and climb out, leaving me with bruises for over a week all over my body. It was a real shame this all happened, but I’m sure I will visit again one day and those experiences will be replaced with more fond ones, but for now unfortunately it has to be one of the worst places I have been as of yet.

6. Do you have a Bucket List? If so where are the 3 top places on it?

– Bungle jump off the world tallest jump – off the Macau Tower

– Travel to the North Pole to see polar bears, the northern lights and climb a glacier.

– Visit he Maldives and stay in a beautiful over the water bungalow.

7. What 3 things (apart from the essentials – food/water etc) do you always travel with?

– My Gopro, canon power shot and canon 700D cameras

– Body Mist (water based perfume spray) so refreshing and easy to make and use! (yes I make it myself with my favorite perfumes)

– Packets of continental soup (laksa flavored – YUM!) and nestle hot chocolate sashays.

8. What makes you happy and why?

Travelling! Hahah I lovvvveeee to get on planes, I have a strange obsession with airports, areoplanes, plane food and just in general travelling on them! I get super excited and just generally happy to be flying to a new destination preparing for new adventures, meeting new people and seeing new places and doing new things!

9. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

I started around June 2014 – I started because I was planning my adventures around the world, and decided to make a blog to stay in contact with friends and family, and it just seemed to interest a range of people, it attracted a lot of interested travellers and as I began writing more and more, people ended up inspiring me to write more about my travels, tips and overall destination and travelling advice.

10. What makes your blog unique and why should people read it?

I’m a very colorful person! A lot of people often tell me I have a bright, fun and bubbly personality and I believe it is reflected online both on social media and on my blog. I write how I speak (as my friends say) so you’re not just reading any old blog, your reading me! My life, and my adventures that I am more than thrilled to be sharing with those interested in reading it. I like to spend time communicating with those interested and take time to reply to emails, posts and questions – I believe every person is just like me, and deserves the time and effort given back, if they take time to email me and reach out to me, I will return the favor and time given. I like travelling, but I love the people supporting me from behind there computer screens, they – you are the reason I am still blogging today!

From ESLT –  thanks for taking the time to answer my questions Melissa. I, and I imagine a lot of people, are super jealous that you have visited Antartica. So many guest bloggers have it on their bucket list – it sounds amazing. All I can say about your trip to Tanzania is WOW! What stories you must have to tell? Like you say hopefully you have chance to re-visit and replace those memories. I love the fact that you list body mist as an essential, completely dispelling the myth that travellers smell 🙂 – not all of us do! Coming from a person so scared of flying I’m totally in awe of the fact that you love everything about flying (but the food – really? lol). You have been to some truly awesome places and I look forward to following you as you continue your journey.

Ahh boo! 😦 But sometimes what went wrong makes for a better story than what went right. As long as you can laugh about it afterwards I guess.
