Guest Interview – Kid Friendly Europe 101

Guest Interview – Kid Friendly Europe 101

This week’s guest post comes from Jennifer at Kid Firendly Europe 101. So who is Jennifer – ‘I am 32 years old and I am a mother of three crazy and wild children … oh and they are adorable too. We are currently residing in Germany for the next few years and we are living it! We absolutely LOVE it here in Europe. We are originally from the great Republic of Texas in the United States of America (& no… I don’t have a southern Texas accent… sorry)’. Jennifer explains that since moving to Germany in April 2014 ‘we have travelled to 12 countries! So we’ve been to Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Malta, Scotland, England (next month), Croatia, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Czech Republic. Can’t wait to explore some more’. Check out Jennifer’s blog to find out more information about her family, their travel tips, their adventures and the deals that they have found.

1.What is your name and where do you come from?

My name is Jennifer McMillen and I am from Sugar Land, Texas USA. We are a US military family living in Germany.

2. What sort of traveler are you? Full time / part time / business / backpacker etc?

We are part-time travelers but I travel with my three children quite a bit.

3. How do you fund your travelling?

Spouse’s job, but hopefully eventually I will have another income to fund.

4. Where is the best place you have ever been and why?

This is a hard question actually. It is a toss-up. We absolutely LOVED our trip to Disney World in Florida (2014). It was our very time at Disney World (except my husband) and we just truly enjoyed our trip. Our children at the time were (almost) 2, 3 and 7. Just seeing their eyes light up was just phenomenal. Our next trip was our Costa Cruise we took this year. It was nice for me since my husband and I were able to get a break at some ports, but the kids were also able to explore different cultures and countries. Our next favorite is Croatia. Beach. Sun. Could I say any more? My kids are BUGGING me to go back. And our recent trip to Disneyland Paris. Can’t get enough of Disney. We loved it!

5. Where is the worst place you have ever been and why?

I wouldn’t say “worst” but more like least favorite has to be Brussels, Belgium. I think it had a lot to do with us going there in January. Plus nothing was open, unfortunately. But I did love the Grand Place and of course the Belgian waffles.

6. Do you have a Bucket List? If so where are the 3 top places on it?

Yes! I do have a bucket list. Though again it is hard to place the top 3, but I would LOVE to go to Thailand, Scandinavia, and South Africa.

7. What 3 things (apart from the essentials –food/water etc) do you always travel with?

Cups with lids, medications, & laptop (I bring movies for the kids in English)

8. What makes you happy and why?

Seeing my children happy makes me happy, because if they are not then they are miserable and I hate seeing them miserable. I want my children to enjoy what life has to offer them. I want to give them the world like what my parents gave to me. I am the small percentage of Americans… well more like the world that has been able to travel the world. My kids are catching up to me! I have been to 25 countries and they’ve seen 12 (this year alone!).

9. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

I have only had a blog since June, but I have been writing reviews for well… awhile. I started my blog since I was always told that I should share my wealth of information with the world instead of just my friends on Facebook.

10. What makes your blog unique and why should people read it?

I feel that my blog is unique because it gives my readers a chance to see what they can do with their children. Not only that I will expand to where ever we are living. Since we are a military family we can go anywhere that there is a military base. We are still growing into our travel bags and we still have a LOT to see and do. People should read my blog because as I am learning and growing as well as are my children. It is giving my children a first-hand “real world” education. Not only do I post on my blog about our travels, but I also post tips. On my main Facebook page, I post deals that I have found (i.e. I found round trip tickets from Frankfurt to London for 5 persons for $50 via RyanAir!)

From ESLT –  thanks for taking the time to answer my questions Jennifer. I am also 32 years young however do not have the 3 kids in tow. Hopefully Mr ESLT and I will have kids in the near future and be in a position to keep up our travelling ways. I love the fact that your children have already visited 12 countries this year, what an education! I’m with you on being a Disney fan, Mr ESLT took me to Disneyland Paris for my 30th birthday a couple of years ago but refuses to go to Disney World Florida without children (such a spoilsport!) I’m pleased to see Croatia listed as one of the best places you have visited as we are visiting next year (thank you for sending link through to your post). I love your ‘Deals Found!’ section of your site and will be checking that out on a regular basis to see if I can save myself some cash when travelling.
