What To Wear To Keep The Travel Vibe Alive

Keep The Travel Vibe Alive Through Fashion

As we are unable to travel at the moment and the majority of us are working from home the likelihood is, if you are anything like us, you have been living in a combination of pyjamas and loungewear. Oh and don’t forget the odd smart top/shirt thrown into the mix if you have an important Teams/Zoom meeting. As we aren’t allowed to go anywhere fun, venture far and are mourning not being able to jump on a plane, it might be difficult to get excited about clothes at the moment. However, many professionals state that clothes can make us happy. They have the power to boost confidence, increase wellbeing and can have a positive impact on mental health. Therefore, why not combine all those benefits and keep the travel vibe alive?

Prior to COVID-19 the UK’s Fashion industry was worth approximately £26 billion, adding 800,000 jobs to the economy. As with many industries currently, the fashion industry has also taken a hit because of the pandemic. Therefore there have been calls for investors to assist and support businesses to ensure the industry flourishes once again. There has been a natural silver lining of COVID and that is the slowing of fast fashion. Because the need for fashionable clothes has been replaced for many by the need for comfortable clothes, fewer items are being produced.

There are a number of travel-related or themed items of clothing you could wear through the lockdown. Many of which are not only practical and comfortable but also may help you think of happier times. This could be when you were travelling pre-pandemic. They could even get you in the mood to plan your first post-COVID-19 adventure. Here are just a few.

Elephant Pants

Anyone who has backpacked through South East Asia will be familiar with these bad boys. You may in fact own a pair of elephant pants. If so, you will know how comfortable and easy to wear they are. Perfect for lounging around during lockdown. If you did pick up your pair during a backpacking adventure they may bring back wonderful memories, therefore keeping the travel vibe alive.

Hoodies

Travel ain’t nothing without a hoodie. They are the perfect item of clothing to take with you wherever you are going. For example, we always fly in hoodies regardless of where we are going. Aeroplanes can get cold, therefore having a hoodie to throw on to beat off the chill is ideal. The same goes for life in lockdown especially during the winter months and again may trigger happy memories.

Scarf

A scarf (a soft lightweight one, not a big chunky one) is also a great travel accessory and something that you could wear while working from home, especially if your house is a tad chilly or you don’t want to boost the heating. As with hoodies, scarfs are great to throw on if temperatures drop. You may also catch a whiff of a fragrance or smell that throws you right back to the last time you wore it on your travels.

What items of clothing have you found wearing during lockdown that you usually ware while travelling? Have they kept the travel vibe alive for you?

Also, does anyone else worry about returning to ‘normal’ have having to wear proper clothes again? What is even considered fashionable in 2021?
