There’s nothing quite like a weekend road trip. Getting out on the open road and exploring new destinations is a freeing and exhilarating experience. We love road trips and have taken them all over the world. It’s important to remember that a long road trip is a big commitment. Yes, it’s fun and yes you can pull over whenever and wherever you want if you spot something cool. However, moving around a lot and possibly staying at different hotels every night is not for everyone. Therefore maybe a short road trip may be more your thing.
You could even treat it like a taster road trip to see if a longer one could be on the cards. Or maybe you just fancy getting away for the weekend? If so. here are three great short road trip routes you could take in the US. We have chosen the US because of the diverse scenery. We have also included some information about what you need to know about getting around.
Getting Around
Regardless of where you choose to take your road trip before you hit the road, you will need to determine if you want to take your own car (if road tripping in your own country) or rent a vehicle. You may be wondering if you’re even old enough to rent a car; contrary to popular belief, you don’t always have to be 25. The only thing left to do is to pack up your car with everything you need for your break and relax as you enjoy your road trip.
Jackson Hole to Yellowstone National Park

This iconic road trip takes you through some of America’s most magnificent mountain landscapes. Jackson Hole is located just one hour from the southern parts of Yellowstone National Park, making it an easy drive when you do not have a lot of time to spend out on the road. Along the way, you will traverse through the stunning Grand Teton National Park, offering sweeping views of the mountains and an abundance of wildlife viewing opportunities.
Salt Lake City to Moab

Moab is a truly unique destination unlike any other place on earth. The drive from Utah’s capital city to Moab will take approximately four hours. Along the way, you can make your way through the Spanish Fork Canyon or make a pit stop in the charming town of Price or Green River. You will be rewarded at the end of your journey with the distinct landscape of Moab and Arches National Park.
Seattle to San Juan Islands

This magical trip takes you from the energy of the big city to the idyllic coastal beauty of the San Juan Islands. A road trip to the islands will require that you drive to a ferry to cross the water to reach your final destination. You will feel yourself being transported to another world as you sail across the water to your island paradise. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for whales frolicking in the water alongside you while on your journey.
Wherever your travels may take you, any of these three road trip itineraries are perfect for short trips. They will allow you to see some wonderful places without having to cover much ground. Now it is time to simply sit back and enjoy the ride.
