England: 3 of Our Favourite Brunch Spots To Check Out in London

We love visiting London. There’s so much to see and do, we could never get bored. Over the years we have visited the Big Smoke somewhere in excess of 30 times and every time we do, we activate full tourist mode, even though we’re Brits ourselves. Therefore, we think it’s safe to say we have ticked off most of the big tourist attractions in London. Because the city is a hive of activity, time can slip away from you and the fabulous culinary scene in London can be forgotten. We have been guilty in our time of skipping meals, grabbing fast food because we ran out of time for a proper meal and simply forgetting to make reservations, which is crazy because there are so many great restaurants in London.

So, now when we visit London we always ensure we factor in what and where we are going to eat into our literary. As we’re not breakfast people we find eating mid-morning to early afternoon is the optimum time for us and there are so many great brunch spots to check out in London. This gives us time to do some sightseeing in London before or even have a nice long lay in. As with attractions, there are numerous great restaurants that serve up great brunch options, which can make deciding where to dine a tough decision. Therefore, we’ve put together a list of some of our favourites that we’ve sampled during our numerous visits.

3 of our Favourite Brunch Spots in London

Balthazar London

Location: 4-6 Russell Street, Covent Garden

Balthazar is instantly recognisable with its large red awning welcoming people in. The interior is very striking too. With high ceilings, mirrored walls and red leather seats and booths, it reminds us very much of brunching in New York. Reservations are essential unless you have 3 hours to sit and wait on the off chance a table becomes available. With a number of egg dishes around the £13 per dish mark, it is very much a mid-range brunch option. However, if you can stretch your budget the Balthazar Steak and Egg (£28) is a must.

Shack-Fuyu

Location: 14A Old Compton St, Soho

If you fancy a non-traditional brunch then Shack-Fuyu is perfect. Sunday brunch here is amazing, especially because it’s bottomless. Yes, you can drink as much prosecco as you like (for two hours) while enjoying the delicious creative Japanese food inspired by western cuisine. With dishes such as grilled salmon, beef fillet and sea bass on the menu, together with included starters and dessert, this is a hearty brunch offering will certainly see you through the day. And the best part, it’s only £39pp which for London, is a pretty good deal.

The Barn

Location:  60 Holloway Road

Ok, technically not a brunch place but an all-day breakfast place, meaning you can eat when you want. Plus the extensive menu is available every day. With a warm rustic charm and amazing coffee, The Barn’s a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s the perfect place to head if travelling on a budget. With delicious dishes starting from only £2.30. The building is also deceptive as it looks quite small from the front but once inside there are plenty of seats, plus it’s dog-friendly if you’re travelling with your four-legged friend.
