Leaving The Beach At The Beach with Tesalate

Tesalate Sand Free Beach Towels

When the weather is a bit rubbish in England, nothing beats a winter sun break. That’s exactly what we indulged in last week. We spent a week enjoying the sunshine in Dubai. That included a day trip to one of the local beaches – La Mer. Unfortunately, we chose the windiest day of our holiday, but it was still wonderfully hot. Therefore, we packed all of our essentials and hit the sand. In our bag, we had our sun lotion, Kindles, iPhone and earphones together with the most essential of essentials – a beach towel. Vicky’s new ‘The Swell’ beach towel had been recently gifted to her by Tesalate. This was the perfect opportunity to test it out.

Tesalate is an Australian company who design and produce a range of beach towels. With a number of fantastic towels on offer on the Tesalate website, The Swell stood out to Vicky because of it’s cool, bright design. Single towels cost £49 each and the funky ‘towels for two’ (a double towel perfect for travelling couples) cost £79 each. The price does include free worldwide shipping. Vicky had hers delivered directly to the reception at the hotel we were staying at in Dubai. Together with all taxes and charges. Having never spent anything near 50 quid on a beach towel, Vicky was eager to see if it was worth its price tag.

Light & Compact

The first thing she noticed about the Tesalate towel is that it is light and compact as described on the Tesalate website. It also comes in its own handy storage pouch. This means that once you have finished with it, you can fold it up and store it easily. It also meant that it was small enough to fit in our beach bag and still left room for all our other beach essentials. However, if we had taken a beach bag or there hadn’t have been enough room, the storage pouch has a strap which Vicky could have put around her wrist to carry it. It also meant that it didn’t take up much room in Vicky’s suitcase on the way home, which was great news as we were only travelling with hand luggage.

The towel is a full-size beach towel (160cm x 80cm / 63 x 31 inches) and is uber lightweight. So much so, it was quite difficult to lay it flat in the (ridiculous) Dubai wind (100% the wind’s fault and not the towel’s). Even though it is not the thickest or fluffiest beach towel (you know the ones which collect every grain of sand and leave your washing machine clogged up?), once laid on the sand it is soft and comfortable and perfect for sprawling out on and catching some rays.

Sand Free

We’ll be honest – we are not really beach people! We like the sunshine and the water but the sand just gets on our nerves. Especially when you still find it in your bag three weeks later! Therefore, the ‘leaving the beach at the beach’ aspect of the Tesalate towel really appealed. The thought of using the towel, shaking it off and taking it home not to find a mini Sahara waiting for you seemed too good to be true. However, the Tesalate towel lived up to its promise. Even after a day of sunbathing and swimming – meaning a lot of wet sand, we did in fact – leave the beach at the beach.

Ultra Absorbent

Any other day of our holiday and the fact that the Tesalate towel is super absorbent wouldn’t have really been a massive selling point for us. This is because we could have simply laid out in the sun and let it dry us. However, because of the wind – the second we got out of the water it started whipping us, getting dried very quickly was necessary. Again the towel did not disappoint. The AbsorbLite™ microfiber (80% polyester + 20% polyamide) that the towel is made from means that the Tesalate towels can hold up to a litre of water. The double towels can hold up to two litres of water – double the size, double the absorbancy.

Rapid Dry

There is nothing worse than taking a dip, drying off and then having to lay on a wet towel for the rest of the day – urgh. However, because of the Tesalate towel’s AbsorbLite technology, it dries quickly too. Once used, Vicky simply laid it out on the sand and let the sunshine work its magic. Within 30 minutes or so it was bone dry again. It was 26 degrees, maybe if it had not been as hot, it would have possibly taken longer. As it had dried, the wet sand simply sat on the top. Meaning a quick shake left it sand free. Therefore ready to be folded up and put back in its storage pouch to be taken home and washed for future use. Of which we’re sure there will be many.
