This week’s guest interview is with Suzy, travel blogger behind Suzy The Explorer. She explains ‘I hope that my posts on my blog provide you with some great insider knowledge into the locations that I go to, give you tips on how to make the most of your time there and inspire you to see more of the world yourself. The world is a big and beautiful place that can teach us so much about different cultures, food, history and even ourselves. It would be a shame not to explore as much as possible.’
1. What is your name and where do you come from?
Suzy King and I am from Kent which is the South East of England
2. What sort of traveller are you? Full time / part time / business / backpacker etc?
I am a part-time traveller but the end goal is to do it full-time
3. How do you fund your travelling?
I work full-time so I put away as much as I can on each payday to go towards travelling then I look for the best deals to make my money go further.
4. Where is the best place you have ever been and why?
OMG, that is so hard to answer. I would have to say Tasmania because I got to meet some of my family that I hadn’t met before and had so many amazing road trips with my mum and husband. My cousin lives up in the hills and has a driveway that is half a mile long, one morning I was jogging down the driveway when I heard this thumping to my right. I look round and it’s 2 wallabies bouncing along the side of the path. It was amazing!
5. Where is the worst place you have ever been and why?
Everywhere has it’s good and bad bits but I don’t think that I have been anywhere that I wouldn’t go again
6. Do you have a Bucket List? If so where are the 3 top places on it?
My bucket list is a big notebook, nothing is in order, I just wrote things in there when I have seen something I’d love to do and then cross it off once I have done it. One thing I have wanted to do for ages though is to go to Finland and sleep in one of those glass igloos, that would be so cool.
7. What 3 things (apart from the essentials – food/water etc) do you always travel with?
My phone goes everywhere with me so that is number 1, my notes book and a mini first aid kit (I am accident prone lol).
8. What makes you happy and why?
Going to new places with someone who is loving it as much as me. There is nothing like an adventure shared with someone who is having an amazing time too.
9. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I started writing the odd blog post in October 2017 but really started taking it more seriously in January 2018 when I set up a few social media profiles and writing a lot more about my adventures. I got such a great response from people that it’s given me the confidence to write more and to push myself to hopefully making travel blogging my job one day. I know I have a long way to go before that could happen so I’m just going to enjoy the ride for now.
10. What makes your blog unique and why should people read it?
I am very honest, if I didn’t like something, I won’t leave it out of the blog. The posts will have all the good and all the bad. Plus, a few people have said that they like reading my blog because of my size. I’m very open about the fact that I am a big person and that I don’t let it hold me back when it comes to going places that I want to go.
From ESLT – thank you, Suzy, for taking the time to answer our questions. Safe Travels 🙂
