Guest Interview – Mayochup

Allen and Luella - Mayochup

This week’s guest post comes from Allen and Luella, bloggers behind Mayochup. They explain ‘We are a husband and wife team who like to explore different foods, places to eat and travelling. We hope you will follow us on our adventures and I hope our blog is of some use when it comes to making that all important decision’ and if you were wondering ‘Mayochup is born out of a blend of mayonnaise and ketchup and if you get the balance right, it’s actually quite nice! Recommended to be used on hotdogs, burgers and many different kind of sandwiches.’

1. What is your name and where do you come from?

We are Allen & Luella, a London based husband and wife team who, together, compose Mayochup.

2. What sort of traveler are you? Full time / part time / business / backpacker etc?

We are part-time travelers. Unfortunately, due to work commitments, we cannot be more but we do try to visit places, however small, every weekend to keep things varied. There’s so much on our doorstep to see and do as well as short trips to the continent.

3. How do you fund your travelling?

We have a joint account which is solely used to store the holiday fund. It has taken a hit recently due to our recent month long trip to Vietnam and Oman but it is building up bit by bit.

4. Where is the best place you have ever been and why?

The best place we have been together is Vietnam. It is a country where it has it all. From busy bustling vibrant cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh to the small settlements surrounded by nature like Ninh Binh. The locals are friendly and will always go that extra mile to ensure your stay is memorable. Four separate posts about that can be found on our blog.

5. Where is the worst place you have ever been and why?

The worst place… hmm, nothing springs to mind immediately which suggests we have been lucky so far. There have been some terrible restaurants however.

6. Do you have a Bucket List? If so where are the 3 top places on it?

It will have to be a very big bucket! There’s so many places and cultures to see and I blame TV for that. The top three would be to visit Iceland, New Zealand and, for me, to step foot on American soil for the first time.

7. What 3 things (apart from the essentials – food/water etc) do you always travel with?

Luella always carries her cameras (SLR, phone, Polaroid & Go-Pro). No holiday is the same without it and the blog would also suffer of course. The tablet is also essential to record and makes notes of the days activities. The two together won’t work without the multi-charger!

8. What makes you happy and why?

When we have finally sat down on the plane and ready for take off. That is the final confirmation in our minds that it is time to explore somewhere else for a while.

9. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?

We have been going for a year and a month now. I do enjoy writing even though I’m not the worlds greatest writer and Luella is a keen photographer. It just makes sense that we have a hobby we can do together and if we can share our experiences with everyone then all the better.

10. What makes your blog unique and why should people read it?

We always tell the truth about where we visit and do not sugar coat everything. Every place has its good and bad bits and we try to highlight that in our style. We try to focus on the images rather than reading blocks of text as an image tells the story better than I could ever write.

From ESLT – thank you Allen and Luella for taking the time to answer our questions. Safe Travels 🙂
