This week’s guest post comes from Georgina, blogger behind Georgina Does. She explains ‘My blog has given me some incredible opportunities so far and has allowed me to grow hugely as a person. It has given me the confidence to walk into a room full of people on my own and even agree to fly across the world and spend a week with a group of strangers. Also, after deciding that university wasn’t for me, the knowledge I have gained from blogging landed me my dream job working with bloggers in SEO. I still enjoy my job but this year’s goal is to travel as much as I possibly can; I want to see the world and of course I’ll be sharing all of my adventurers on my blog!’
1. What is your name and where do you come from?
My name is Georgina and I live in Essex and yep, I see TOWIE being filmed quite a lot. I work in London and spend most of my time free there too. For me, it’s all about the food and the hotels too although I do love just wandering around, there’s always something new going on.
2. What sort of traveller are you? Full time / part time / business / backpacker etc?
Since I work full time in London, I’m currently squeezing time in to travel whenever I can. I would love to be able to travel more. One day, I hope to be able to work remotely. My travel always used to be quite luxury but this year I’m really changing it up. Whist I am used to travelling with my boyfriend and staying in 5* hotels, I stayed in my first hostel in January on a holiday with a complete stranger (maybe this’ll clear it up) and my second one a couple of weeks later.
3. How do you fund your travelling?
I guess working full time has its perks! I also get to go on press trips sometimes which is amazing.
4. Where is the best place you have ever been and why?
I think it has got to be Ubud in Bali. I went last year with my boyfriend and for some reason, we only booked one day there. As soon as we arrived, I could tell it just wasn’t going to be enough, Ubud is incredible and we were staying at the most amazing resort. We wanted to make the most of being there so decided to get up early and spend the morning exploring the temples and seeing the monkeys and spend the afternoon enjoying the our private pool and outdoor marble bathtub. I fell in love with Ubud and would love to go back one day. I wrote a blog post about our crazy day there if you are interested in seeing what else we got up to, check it out here.
5. Where is the worst place you have ever been and why?
I can’t really think of anywhere bad. It’s all experience after all
6. Do you have a Bucket List? If so where are the 3 top places on it?
Its not so much a bucket list but there are loads of places that I would really love to visit. I see so many beautiful images of places on a daily basis that my list is always growing although recently I’ve been really interested in seeing Myanmar and its pagodas. The colours of India and the streets of Taiwan.
7. What 3 things (apart from the essentials – food/water etc) do you always travel with?
I don’t even go to work, let alone travel to another country without a portable charger to two, they come everywhere with me! I always take a camera on my trips, taking photos to make memories is really important to me plus I need them for my blog! One last thing that is really important for me is appropriate footwear. Taking the wrong shoes with you can ruin a trip so always appropriate footwear.
8. What makes you happy and why?
Travelling definitely makes me happy. Experiencing different cultures and seeing the way other people live; I think that’s why I love Asia so much, everything is different to what I know – the food, the colour; just the way of life!
9. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I have been blogging for almost 5 years now! I started my blog because I had a dead-end job in a cabin on the side of a motorway and I was so bored everyday. It actually started out as Fashion which I still like to cover although its been very travel orientated as of recently because it is something I am so passionate about.
10. What makes your blog unique and why should people read it?
It covers luxury and budget which is just how I do things but it’s something I don’t see around very often. I love a luxury trip and of course, I am happy to pay for it but I am also happy to go on a budget trip and save money as I go.
From ESLT – thank you Georgina for taking the time to answer our questions. Safe Travels 🙂
