This week’s guest post comes from Rachel Nicole. She explains ‘Rachel Nicole was established in 2010 when I was in my final months at Secondary School. I had been following many other Fashion Bloggers and decided to make my own. Writing this blog has given me the chance to learn so many skills such as improving my Photography. Through the years, I’ve had some amazing opportunities such as reporting at London Fashion Week and Wireless Festival and appearing in national press which you can read more about here. Whilst I mainly post Fashion related subjects, I blog about all sorts from Beauty to Food, Lifestyle to Travel. I would really love to incorporate more Travel into my blog as it’s something I am very passionate about and I’m hoping to make 2016 the year of Travel!’ and she certainly looks to be 🙂
1. What is your name and where do you come from?
I’m Rachel Nicole and I’m from a little seaside town in North Yorkshire in the UK.
2. What sort of traveller are you? Full time / part time / business / backpacker etc?
I’m currently a full-time freelance blogger and I have been for the past year. Whilst my main topic on my blog has been Fashion and Lifestyle, I have been incorporating a lot more travel in the past six months. So I’d say I’m a part-time traveler.
3. How do you fund your travelling?
I’m lucky that I get some amazing opportunities through blogging but I also fund my trips with freelance work.
4. Where is the best place you have ever been and why?
It’s probably a total cliché to say New York but I loved it there. I completely exceeded my expectations and I could even see myself living there one day. There’s something for everyone from seeing the big sights, shopping, incredible places for food, museums and Central Park was just beautiful. I’d love to visit again sometime soon.
5. Where is the worst place you have ever been and why?
I don’t think I’ve been anywhere that I’ve not enjoyed. I did actually go on a family holiday to Benidorm and that was pretty eye opening. The entertainment on an evening was questionable. I always try to find the best in each destination I visit though. I’m not sure I’ll be visiting Benidorm again in a hurry.
6. Do you have a Bucket List? If so where are the 3 top places on it?
My bucket list is endless! Top of my bucket list is to do a road trip across America, I’m desperate to visit Nashville, New Orleans, Las Vegas and San Francisco! I also really want to visit Australia and Canada.
7. What 3 things (apart from the essentials – food/water etc) do you always travel with?
As I’m a typical blogger, my Olympus Pen Camera and MacBook are complete must haves for me! Also, I’m a big planner so I like having a lot of information and itinerary’s about where I’m going.
8. What makes you happy and why?
Blogging makes me happy, it’s just incredible how a hobby that started seven years ago has brought so many incredible people into my life and so many amazing opportunities. When it stops making me happy, I think that’ll be when I take a step back.
9. How long have you been blogging and why did you start?
I’ve been blogging for seven years, I started in the last year of secondary school and like I previously mentioned, It was mainly all about Fashion and general lifestyle as I was studying textiles and then went on to study Fashion at college and University. I started to take my blog more seriously when I was at University and it’s slowly developed to include more aspects of my life such as Travel.
10. What makes your blog unique and why should people read it?
I only ever blog about things I find personally interesting and what I love so I think it’s quite unique as it shows off what I’m like as a person. I don’t really have a niche and like to cover anything that appeals to me really but I do think I have a unique balance of Fashion & Travel. I particularly love shooting my outfits in different locations around the world.
From ESLT – thanks for taking the time to answer our questions Rachel. I love the way your blog has evolved and that you are now incorporating travel into it, it is my favourite topic after all 🙂 It also appears that of all the Blogger interviews that we have conducted you are the person who has been blogging the longest – 7 years really does show that you love it and are truly dedicated! Here’s to many more years of happy blogging and safe travels. p.s. couldn’t agree more about Benidorm – NEVER again!
