Few things in life are better than hitting the open road and having recently taken a road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast Highway it has whet our appetite to take more road trips in the United States. Therefore, we have started researching which other routes we would love to take in the future. Check out this list of outstanding road trips you could take and if you are a biker or fancy a new experience why not hire a Harley for unforgettable views and exceptional experiences, maybe it’s already on your bucket list?

Black Hills

Sturgis became popular for a reason. Needles Highway, South Dakota, can be a visual overload due to the wild nature that you will surely encounter up close and personal such as bison and deer. And, you will travel through two granite tunnels that will add an additional level of excitement to your journey.

George Washington Highway

Route 50, the George Washington Highway in West Virginia is a nature-lovers’ paradise. This breathtakingly beautiful tree-lined stretch of winding curves will take you through the mountains, across rivers and through the woods. You will travel through national parks, and it is nearby other popular road trips if it leaves you wanting more.

Prudhoe Bay

This Alaskan trip is not for amateurs. If you are looking for one of the most challenging and unpredictable road trips, Prudhoe Bay is for you. The majestic beauty of Alaska will leave you in awe; however, it is the rough terrain and rapidly changing weather that will provide you with a rush of intensity throughout your endeavour.

Route 66

Route 66 is the quintessential road trip and riding it on a Harley is on many people’s bucket lists. Starting in Chicago and finishing in Santa Monica with the wind in your face, you will experience divine inspiration from the desert landscape throughout the Southwest and revel in the magnitude of the Grand Canyon in Arizona on your soul-searching journey. If you do decide to take this road trip on a Harley, especially if you are a beginner rider, be sure to stock up on Harley Davidson accessories before you head out to make your journey as smooth as possible. 

Tail of The Dragon

This 11-mile stretch of road in North Carolina is home to a whopping 318 curves. It is hugely popular with motorcycles and sports cars alike. Due to the danger factor of this road, it is advised to proceed with caution. Along the way, stop and pay homage to those who have fallen before you at the Tree of Shame where you will see parts of bikes hanging from the branches and nailed to the tree.

The US is certainly not lacking in great road trip routes and these are some of the best. The main decision you will have to make is which one to take first.
