If you are a regular reader of our blog, you will know how much we love Florence, Italy and that it was, in fact, the first place Mr. ESLT and I first visited together. Yes, after only knowing each other for three weeks, we packed our bags and headed to what is now our most favourite city in the world. Back then, over a decade ago, we were on a tight budget and as we didn’t know each at all our accommodation was not the greatest. It was centrally located, but I’ll be honest, that was all it had going for it.
Therefore, when we decided to head back to Florence, the city where our romance blossomed, to celebrate our first wedding anniversary, we decided to choose accommodation which suited the occasion more. So after a lot of research, we decided on the fantastic La Dimora degli Angeli Florence.
La Dimora degli Angeli Florence, along with La Dimora del Centro Florence are luxury B&Bs located in the historic centre of Florence and located close to Florence’s central train station Santa Maria Novella which was the Terravision shuttle bus drop off point for us from Pisa Airport, meaning we did not have to walk far with our luggage.
The doorway to the property is located on Via de’ Brunelleschi and in all honesty, is quite unassuming. It is not until we headed up to the reception area on the fourth floor of the building and through the door that we realised what a thoroughly great choice we had made in choosing the La Dimora degli Angeli Florence one of the most beautiful boutique B&Bs we’ve ever stayed at in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
We received a warm welcome from the owner personally, which we thought was a lovely touch. It’s important to remember that La Dimora degli Angeli Florence is a B&B and not a hotel, therefore the reception is not manned 24/7 however, regardless of what time you arrive someone will be there to let you in. We were also given a telephone number to call if we did have any problems or an emergency, which of course we didn’t.
We were instantly made to feel at home as we were led to our gorgeous room. Decorated beautifully, romance oozed from its walls. We had booked a superior room which had amazing views over the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore (Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower”) which is the main church of Florence and more commonly known to as Il Duomo di Firenze, proving what a prime location the B&B is located in. In fact we couldn’t have asked for a better location, everything in the historic centre was in walking distance including Palazzo Vecchio, Ponte Vecchio and Uffizi Gallery together with a bus stop just round the corner for the hop on hop off bus which we jumped on during our stay to head up to Piazzale Michelangelo which offers panoramic views over the city.
Our room had all the amenities we needed to make our stay at perfect including the all important air conditioning. We visited in June and boy, was it hot, it was also very humid, so the fact that we could close the sound proof windows and flick on the AC meant that we slept soundly each night of our stay. Together with safe deposit box, flat screen satellite TV and wifi and not forgetting a (payable) mini bar which was restocked with Prosecco every day (please don’t judge it was our wedding anniversary after all!) the room was fantastic. Another major plus point was that our room, in fact, all the twelve rooms at the property, had a private en suite bathroom and complimentary toiletries which sometimes are hard to come by in central Europe.
Breakfast is not served at the property, instead, we were given vouchers to use at one of two local cafés which we exchanged for juice, coffee and pastries which were a great way to start the day. La Dimora degli Angeli Florence does, however, have an on site tea room which is open all day, every day and included in the room rate. We found it to be well stocked all the time with juices, fruit, Biscotti, sweets and tea and coffee. It was the perfect place to grab a quick snack from or a refreshing juice after a long day of exploring.
We loved our stay at La Dimora degli Angeli and since our stay 5 years ago we have recommended the B&B to everyone that ever mentions that they are heading to Florence and we would not hesitate to stay again ourselves.
