Australia: The Grampians National Park (Halls Gap), Victoria

With the Great Ocean Road and Warrnambool in our rearview mirror of our trusty Kombi Gracie, Mr ESLT and I hit the road again this time our destination was Halls Gap in the Grampians National Park. The distance between Warrnambool and Halls Gap is 159km and google maps reliably informed me that the journey should take 2 hours and 13 minutes. Unfortunately, I did not factor into the equation that we were driving a 1970’s campervan and not a modern car! Therefore our journey took just over 3 hours.

Australia: DAY 3/3, Great Ocean Road, Victoria (Port Campbell – Warrnambool)

Previously: Day 2/3 – Great Ocean Road, Victoria (Lorne – Port Campbell DAY 3 Our final day on the Great Ocean Road and what a day it was. Australia: DAY 2/3, Great Ocean Road, Victoria (Lorne – Port Campbell)

Previously: DAY 1/3 – Great Ocean Road, Victoria, Australia (Torquay – Lorne) DAY 2 The first port of call today was Erskine Falls. Erskine Falls is at the end of Erskine Falls Road 10km north-west of Lorne. There is a viewing point above the falls and a walking track, steep in places which leads to the base of the falls. The falls cascade over one of the highest drops in the Otways. The car park is very small but we arrived early morning and found getting a spot no problem. The day we visited there were quite a few people walking to the…

Australia: DAY 1/3 – Great Ocean Road, Victoria (Torquay – Lorne)

Driving the Great Ocean Road, Australia in a 1970’s VW campervan had always been on my bucket list. Well …..in September 2014 I was lucky enough to be able to cross it off my list! As soon as we had booked the international flights from the UK to Australia I started researching VW campervans (kombis) in and around Melbourne so we could take our trip. We, therefore, hired the fantastic GRACIE!

Australia: St. Kilda

Before our trip to Australia, a number of friends had recommended taking a day to visit St Kilda and I’m sure glad we did. St Kilda is a suburb of Melbourne approximately 6km from the City Centre. We took a tram from the Southbank down to St Kilda which only took about 20 minutes. Getting a tram was easy – just remember to buy your Myki from a Myki machine which is available at a number of stops and shops – it’s similar to London’s Oyster Card but in Melbourne you can also use them on buses and trains which means you…
