I have just got back from a very relaxing mid-week break (Monday – Friday) at Parmontley Hall Country Lodges, Hexham in Northumberland with my husband. I booked this fantastic lodge through Hoseasons. The site is split by a stream with static caravans on one side (quite close together) and 3 luxury lodges on the other (lovely large open area with great views)….although it looks like more lodges are planned.
Bob the site manager was very welcoming and showed us to and around our Cupola Lodge. It consists of a twin bedroom, family bathroom, master bedroom with en suite and walk in wardrobe, open plan well equipped kitchen, dining and living room, study(!) and the pièce de résistance – the HOT TUB! We had booked a lodge to get away from the Christmas run up hustle and bustle and were surprised yet chuffed to find out we were the only people on site meaning we could make as much noise as we wanted. Even though we didn’t make much……I promise.
We booked this break in June and looking back I think we took a gamble booking a lodge 3 1/2 hours away in the 2nd week of December. It could have easily been 6 inches of snow and on some of the narrow and winding country lanes you have to tackle to get to site it would have made getting there impossible. However we were lucky and had a very mild week and in between showers we certainly got a lot of use from the fantastic 4 person hot tub.
The wildlife in the area is amazing. In the fields around the site you can see numerous sheep and horses. There are also plenty of pheasants and we also got a tap on the door by a lovely ginger cat! We have been to many lodges over the past few years and this one scores very highly indeed. To be honest I cannot think of one thing I would change. It certainly was a home away from home as even free wi-fi was available which is great for googling local attractions, trying to get to that next level on Candy Crush or indeed updating your blog. I very rarely say I would like to return somewhere as I always think the world is so big and there are so many things to see however I would love to return to Parmontley Hall Country Lodges in the Summer months as I feel we only scratched the surface of what the area has to offer. Thanks to Bob for making us feel welcome and we hope to see you again in the future! ;0)
